As the transition to a new energy economy continues, the workforce that supports and drives that economy will evolve, too. Houston’s role in this evolution will impact the success of the transition, the skills of our region’s residents, and the job needs of new energy employers.

The Partnership’s UpSkill Houston initiative hosted a discussion on the clean energy workforce with stakeholders from the U.S. Department of Energy, as part of a larger tour of Houston’s energy transition ecosystem, and local leaders of this transition.

Lady Idos, Deputy Director at the U.S. Department of Energy - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Accessibility spoke with participants about the formation of the Clean Energy Corps.  Lady talks about the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act.  Peter Beard, Senior Vice President, Regional Workforce Development and UpSkill Houston at Greater Houston Partnership moderates with Katie Mehnert, CEO of ALLY Energy, and Bryant Black, Director, Regional Workforce Development at the Greater Houston Partnership.

The United States Department of Energy is hiring a number of roles across functions and disciplines looking for research, development, and deployment of billions in funding.
